How do I fix hanging notes (stuck) with my Yamaha DX7 and a software sequencer? I have an E! modified DX7 synth, midied to my PowerMac dual 2.5 gz, 4.5gb Ram, etc. by an M-Audio midisport uno USB interface(cheapie). In both Garage Band and Logic Express, I continually get hanging notes. Every few minutes. When I press the play or stop buttons, it kills the note. I am not recording, not sequencing, only using the instruments to play my DX7 live through GB or LOGIC. I have been through the Keyboard, Midi, and Function settings many times. Can't figure it out. Is it something about the Keys off or Notes off messages? Something about Controller 127 as opposed to Controller 123? Is it the skimpy cords on the UNO, or the UNO itself? Would Firewire be better? As you can see, I've tried many things. Thanks for reading!
Make sure you've set your DX7 to "Local Off" if you've hooked it up both ways (MIDI in/out) to your interface; if not, you might get a MIDI loop which might generate stuck notes. Check the little MIDI input/output activity display in the transport bar of Logic (far right); if there's a lot of activity there, it could be your DX7 is busted. I don't know how to do a factory reset on a DX7, but this might help if you've accidently messed up its settings. Cheers, Arne S.
Owning a Korg Synthesizer is an honour for music enthusiasts. Korg is the leading brand of synthesizers and other music related products. The Korg M1 synthesizer happens to be the first one to have record breaking sales, leaving behind the previous best sellers like the Yamaha DX7 and the D-50 from Roland. The M1 is still considered to be among the best music workstations available. The M1 was the first of the line to introduce the option of combining up to eight programs to play simultaneously. All of these programs could play at different velocity zones and in different keys. The Korg Synth M1 release made the Combi (playing of eight different programs) possible and this is what brought about a kind of innovation in the music industry because sound could now be more complex and played and assembled through keyboard or integrated MIDI. In a time when most synthesizers offered fixed-function effects blocks, the Korg Synth M1 offered two independent effects engines. This meant that while previous synthesizers could only offer chorus or delay, Korg synthesizer featured reverb, flanger, chorus, delay and a variety of other effects. In every way, Korg has revolutionized the entire music recording industry and brought forth concepts that were previously unheard of. Once the first model of Korg M1 became a best seller, several more models followed with various additional features and modifications. Even the Synth engine changed after the Korg Trinitys breakthrough version came out in 1995. Earlier Series included the 1989 T Series with a better screen and more keyboard alternatives followed by the O Series in 1990 which included additional refinements and doubled polyphony. Rack-mount versions in every series also became available from Korg, along with a new wave-shaping technology. Later came the release of the X Series in which the major emphasis was on cost effectiveness, with MIDI compatibility and an added disk drive. The Legacy Collection Digital Edition was released in 2004 with software versions of M1 and Wave-station from Korg. Korg has definitely offered uniqueness and exclusivity in their synthesizer designs and every model has been better than the last one, proving that Korg still maintains that pioneer status and has not just become a lost classic. Other products from Korg include Keyboards & Modules, Digital Pianos, Tuners and Metronomes, Drum Products, Amps, Guitar Effects, Recording Equipment and DJ Remix and Production equipment. They also have a range of accessories and Micro products available apart from top of the line synthesizers that are famous among celebrity musicians. No wonder everyone from Enigma to Aerosmith and from Queen to Madonna are proud users of the Korg Synthesizer, especially their Korg Synth M1 model. Other notable celebrities include Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, the Cranberries, Bon Iver, Rick Wakeman, Jerry Garcia, Daz Dillinger, Snap!, Vince Clarke, Fluke, Death in June, Bradley Joseph, Banco De Gaia, Bruce Hornsby, Ken Ishii, Kitaro, the KLF, 808 State ad Robert Miles.
